Running Commentary

Alternate titles for this post: "I Knew I Shouldn't Have Given The Camera to Meghan", "Yes, She Always Talks Like This On The Bench", and "What Do You Mean, SKATING AROUND LIKE A RETARD???" I know it's out of order—there will be more recaps and videos from the games and practices that have happened since our surprise victory over the Senators coming soon—but this is from the scrimmage we played against the Americans C team during our practice slot last night. We lost 2-0, but it was fun. Thanks to the Americans—and especially the refs!—for coming out. An extra special thanks to Shelly for arranging the whole thing—again, especially the refs.

Here's the video Meghan shot of me (normally she's on my line, but last night we switched, and Marnie played Right Wing with me and Shelly). It's HUGE—6.6MB—mainly because I preserved Meghan's play-by-play commentary in all its critical glory, and because she kept shooting for over a minute. I'm sure if I'd edited out the comments about my cluelessness and (lack of) skating ability, it'd be smaller.

NB: Just because Meghan doesn't know what I'm doing doesn't mean *I* don't know what I'm doing.

Meghan is HIGHHHH-larious! I love the northeast philly speech pattern that is so ever present in the film segment she narrated.

oh yeah, AND we would have won that game if we had had a coach. Seriously, we had no reason to lose and I was quite irritated that the Americans weren't playing aggressively at all (except the D girl in gray). They hardly tried, unlike the Senators, who ran us all into the ground. All my under-gear was completely dry at the end of the Americans game, AND I didn't even come close to finishing my water... I was annoyed. :( *sigh*

I wasn't sure if that accent would be as noticeable to everyone else as it is to me -- but it makes sense that it would be to you, too, given that you're not a Philly native. :)

haha, thanks for the thanks!

I dont know what I meant by skating around like a retard cause you dont seem to be doing anything wrong when i said it.

For what it's worth, you had a point -- it did look kinda funny. What happened was I followed Adrienne Canadienne in hard, realized that Shelly was also going in deep, and stopped short to avoid having all of us down low. I then looked up to see if anyone had D covered, noticed that Adrienne seemed to be on her way back there, and then went to the high slot to hang out. I think it was the looking around and trying to find an open spot to claim that made me look lost. And, of course, I wasn't entirely correct that Adrienne was on her way back...

Thanks for shooting the video in the first place, and I agree with Nielle -- the commentary was hilarious! :)

peeps that aren't in 'the know' for the record, her "name" is A.T. She likes it and says it sounds tough. YES! awesome

Posted by: ghetto at February 19, 2007 3:05 PM

I know, it's A.T. I was just being silly and playing on Meghan's reference to her as simply "Canadian" in the video. A.T. *does* sound tough, it's a good way to distinguish her from Adrienne S. -- now Adrienne S. just needs an equally tough nickname!

I'm pretty sure Adrienne Shaw gets called Shaw.. and being called by your last name is usually pretty badass. I think I just call 'em both Adrienne.

Posted by: shelly at February 21, 2007 2:28 AM

i'm sorry, shelly, but if you mean for me to start calling you by your last name, you can forget it... it's too LONG! :-P

I do sometimes yell 'Hi-Cho' when I mean to say Hylan-Cho for lori... it just comes out fast and i can't take it back once it's past my lips. is that badass or just weird?
